About the Client

A leading clean energy organization in the Middle East supports mission-critical engineering, corporate, collaboration, and workforce-access requirements. To modernize its digital workplace, the organization planned to replace its Citrix-based virtual desktop environment, hosted on-premises VMware infrastructure, with Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop.

The goal was to establish a secure, scalable, cloud-native platform while simplifying desktop delivery, improving governance, and making better use of its existing Microsoft 365 investments.

The Challenge

The legacy Citrix and VMware environment created rising cost pressure, infrastructure complexity, and operational overhead. The organization needed to migrate 1,300+ users and 20+ TB of enterprise data, including home drives and user profiles, with minimal disruption.

Applications also had to be reconfigured for Windows 11 multi-session, while existing NTFS permissions and access controls had to be preserved. Supporting shared, VIP, and vendor users across different operating windows added further complexity, alongside stringent security, audit, and user-experience requirements.

The Solution

Cloud4C designed and implemented a secure Azure Virtual Desktop environment, beginning with a proof of concept and phased rollout. Applications were reconfigured and validated on Windows 11 multi-session, while hardened base images and Azure security baselines supported production readiness.

Azure Storage Mover enabled large-scale data migration, FSLogix modernized profile management, and custom PowerShell automation preserved ACLs and generated audit records. Azure Virtual Desktop Insights provided detailed monitoring and alerts. Cloud4C completed the migration, prepared runbooks and architecture documents, and handed over the environment to the customer's operations partner.
