About the Client

A leading sustainable energy organization in the Middle East operates on a large VMware estate which supports business-non-critical as well as SAP workloads across its on-premises data centers. As part of its cloud modernization strategy, the organization sought to reduce infrastructure overhead, simplify VMware operations, and establish a scalable Azure foundation without refactoring existing applications.

The Challenge

The organization needed to migrate 295+ applications and approximately 180 TB of data from on-premises VMware clusters to Azure VMware Solution with minimal disruption. Applications had to retain their existing IP addresses, operating systems, and configurations. The environment also included complex networking dependencies and 2,500+ NSX network policies that had not been clearly categorized, requiring careful assessment, migration planning, and accurate recreation on AVS while maintaining security, connectivity, backup, and operational continuity.

The Solution

Cloud4C designed and implemented the Azure VMware Solution environment, including landing-zone, networking, identity, DNS, backup, and connectivity components. VMware HCX supported workload mobility through vMotion, bulk, and cold migration methods. Cloud4C organized applications into migration waves, prepared runbooks, validated dependencies, and migrated workloads without application-level changes. The team also recreated 2,500+ NSX policies on AVS, integrated on-premises identity services, configured Dell NetWorker backup, conducted pre- and post-migration validation, and delivered architecture documents, SOPs, and operational handover materials.
