Business Continuity Planning (BCP) Solutions
on AWS – Disaster Recovery Scenarios

Business continuity depends on the efficient, uninterrupted flow of data across an organization – from
operations to sales to fulfillment. Even a brief lapse in workload continuity can mean thousands of lost sales
opportunities, disruption to production, and compromised customer trust.

Cloud4C supports the following approaches for BCP and DR planning using AWS.
#

Disaster Recovery Scenarios
with Primary at On-Premises/DC

  • Backup On-Premise and Restore in
    an AWS Region
  • Pilot Light runs in an AWS Region
  • Warm-Standby DR runs in an AWS Region
  • Hot-DR runs in an AWS Region
#

Disaster Recovery Scenarios with
Primary and DR on AWS

  • Web/App in HA and DB Master-Slave
across 2 Availability Zones (AZs) in
    same region
  • Web/App in HA and DB Master AZ-1,
    Near-DR in AZ-2 and Far-DR in AZ-3 of
    same region
  • Primary with Web/App in HA and DB
Master/Slave in Region 1 and, DB DR
    in Region 2

An enterprise can pick up any approach and Cloud4C
provides the following services to enable it BCP and DR on AWS for it.

Securing Amazon Workspaces

# Now that you have deployed Amazon Workspaces, you have to ensure that you make Remote Working solutions secure. Cloud4C uses AWS Key Management Service (KMS) to manage cryptographic keys across a wide range of AWS services and applications. This service offering improves security by retaining data within digital boundaries.

The security and quality controls in AWS KMS have been certified under multiple compliance schemes to help enterprises meet their compliance obligations. Amazon WorkSpaces is PCI compliant service and conforms to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). Cloud4C also received PCI-DSS certification this year.

Cloud4C will enable configuration to encrypt Workspaces volumes with either AWS KMS customer master key (CMK) or AWS Managed CMK for Amazon WorkSpaces. With encrypted volumes, Amazon WorkSpaces uses Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS) to create and manage those volumes. Both services use KMS customer master key (CMK) to work with the encrypted volumes. The client application uses SSL to ensure data security.
