What is an Advanced Persistent Threat (APT)?

An Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) is a sophisticated cyberattack designed to gain unauthorized access to sensitive information. Unlike typical cyberattacks, APTs remain inside a system for a long time without being detected.  

Attackers usually begin by gathering intelligence about their target and then use techniques such as spear phishing, malware, or other attack methods to gain access. Once the attackers establish a foothold, they gradually move from a single compromised system to other parts of the network, allowing them to access valuable data and critical resources.
